“What do you mean you’re going to the military?” Kathy’s mom yelled.
“I want to help people mother, I want to be there for people when they need me.”
“You don’t have to do that Kathy, you’re rich. The military wasn’t made for people like us, we’re better than that.”
“Besides Katherine, if you really wanna work, how about something a little more civil; a teacher or even a yoga instructor?”
“That’s not what I want to do, I’ve made my decision.”
Jessica scuffed, “Where did we go wrong Illeb? We gave that brat everything and she’s just gonna go out and join the military…get herself killed trying to help people.”
“I don’t know Jessica; I didn’t think my only child would go to such boundaries to disappoint us.”
“Some daughter…” Jessica said as she stormed out the room. Illeb looked at Kathy and shook his head, he joined Jessica.
Kathy sat in her bed, coming to the realization that her parents abandoned her just that quickly. Her eyes became red as a tear dropped. Her nanny quickly came into the room. “It’s okay child, they don’t know the potential you have. I can feel it inside you, like a tree just waiting to grow. You’re gonna be big one day and they’ll regret what they said. You’re a flower baby, you just have to let go.”
